In Perfect Timing, Cristiano turns his lens toward the subtle choreography of coincidence. Each photograph captures a moment suspended between control and instinct — the millisecond where light, form, and human movement align. Here, timing becomes both subject and medium, revealing photography as an act of intuitive precision. The resulting images embody a paradox: they are both meticulously composed and entirely accidental. This collection reminds viewers that artistry is often found not in mastery over time, but in collaboration with it.

Instant Film | “METIS” Scan of Fujifilm Instax Color “Wide” of Ms. Stacy M. | Archival pigment print
“I was at my cousins wedding scanning the room and thinking about Gerhard Richter’s painting: “Woman Descending the Staircase” (Frau die Treppe herabgehend). All of the sudden I saw a Venus blonde dressed in a blue velvet dress reminiscent of the woman’s dress in the painting. For a moment I felt totally impotent because my camera was not ready-at-hand but said to myself, “Fuck it, I need to make this happen”. I darted to the nearest wedding photographer and persuaded him to let me borrow his camera. To my delightful surprise the photographer had the incredible Fujifilm Fuji Instax 500 AF and he placed in my hands along with two packs of film. I then pulled up the image Richter’s painting on my iPhone and walked with clocklike finality towards her…and her date. I showed her the painting and asked if she would participate in my attempt to recreate the painting and she smiled and said yes! I extended my hand to help her out of her seat all the while her date watched me with a searing gaze but he said nothing. Off we went to the nearest stairwell where we briefly studied the demeanor of Richter’s subject and practiced for about 5 minutes. She walked to the top of the stairs and I took a deep breath and readied the camera, counted down to three and then she descended with such grace that it looked as if she was weightless and gliding slowly downwards on ice skates. It was a divine moment to witness through a rangefinder.”

“Lake Michigan is always beautiful but she can be ferocious. I brought a tripod with me but she refused all attempts of getting a steady shot with it. It was as if she was beckoning me to take this handheld shot.”

SOAP ACROBAT, ’25

17” x 22” | “30 x 40”
Digital Photography | A slow shutter speed photograph effectively crystallizing the window washer’s entire one-line soap trail | Archival pigment print
“I was sitting at my desk engaged and focused on finishing an edit in photoshop but for a moment my eyes wandered to the window where I saw frothy soap clouds falling and Immediately reckoned that the window washer was not much farther above my unit. In span of two minutes I quickly grabbed my tripod knowing that I wanted a very symmetrical horizontal composition and made sure the camera was perfectly level and parallel to the interior architecture. I was fortunate that my 50mm lens was already mounted to the camera body so it gave me just enough time to calibrate the settings to f/8, 1/3s, iso 64 and then I took a chance and set the self-timer to 3 second delay for 6 shots. I set the self timer because I did not have a remote shutter release and so I was trying to eliminate the possibility of motion blur at this shutter speed… And 4 seconds later he dropped from the sky and painted the window with soap in one fluid motion. It was an absolute thril!”

Digital Photography | A long exposure photograph capturing a hand stroking wet moss | Archival Pigment Print
“I woke up to a gentle patter of rain hitting my windows around 5am. I arose from bed without hesitation and dressed quickly. I set out with my Mac(kintosh) @mackintoshofficial_uk , @nikonusa d850 camera, and @manfrottoimaginemore tripod to find the best patch of moss on the exterior of the MCA @mcachicago . I programmed the camera for a 5 second exposure of my hand stroking the soft growth of moss on concrete. The result is a simple expression of the textural beauty.”

I tend to overthink and question most things in life because reveling brings me pleasure. There is a point where pleasure ceases exasperation sets in and this is when I go hunting for waves.
